Ingredients
  

  • 2-3 ripe bananas with brown spots, mashed
  • 1/2 cup butter softened, for greasing or batter
  • 1 cup chocolate chips dark or milk, plus extra for topping
  • 1 cup flour can use whole wheat
  • 1/4 cup natural sweetener maple syrup, honey or coconut sugar
  • nuts or mix-ins optional: walnuts, pecans, dried fruit

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish or line with parchment paper.
  • Mash the ripe bananas in a large mixing bowl until smooth.
  • Whisk in wet ingredients and sweetener until combined.
  • Gently fold in flour until a consistent batter forms.
  • Stir in chocolate chips and any optional mix-ins. Save a few chips to sprinkle on top.
  • Spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan. Sprinkle remaining chips on top.
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes, until golden and a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool before cutting.

Notes

Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days at room temperature. Freeze up to 3 months. Try adding cinnamon or vanilla for a twist!
